Sport is such an important part of an individual's life. Not everyone is an athlete, but everyone can benefit from a sporting experience. The athlete who plays multiple sports develops multilateral skills, builds self-esteem, and avoids burnout. Additionally, if you as a parent have hopes of seeing your athlete play collegiately, studies have shown that more than 80% of college athletes played three or more sports prior to high school and very few specialized in a single sport during high school. In fact, the majority of college athletes waited until they were seniors in high school to specialize. According to an unpublished report on Division 1 athletes, more than 25% dropped a sport they were good at because of burnout due to early specialization.
The Benefits of Multi-Sport Athletics
- Build Self-Esteem and Confidence
- Develop multi-lateral skills and interests
- Avoid Burnout
- Reduce sports related injury from muscle and joint overuse
- Increase chances of pursuing a life-long sport
Our watchword is, "An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the standards." That is our commitment in sports. There is a standard to which an athlete is called and we are privileged to help them achieve those standards.
[stan-derd] noun 1. something considered by an authority or general consent as a basis of comparison; an approved model; 2. a rule or principle that is used as the basis for judgment. adj. 1. of recognized excellence or established authority.
A “standard” is a rule or goal one strives to achieve. For Standard Sport & Futsal, we emphasize two very important goals that must characterize us both on and off the field: 1) look to be in a position to help your team and others, 2) make good decisions according to the standard (i.e. expected performance in school, at home, with friends, on the team). We are committed to upholding these standards whether in our uniform or not.
